Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead

Vampire Academy (Vampire Academy, #1)St. Vladimir’s Academy isn’t just any boarding school—it’s a hidden place where vampires are educated in the ways of magic and half-human teens train to protect them. Rose Hathaway is a Dhampir, a bodyguard for her best friend Lissa, a Moroi Vampire Princess. They’ve been on the run, but now they’re being dragged back to St. Vladimir’s—the very place where they’re most in danger...

Rose and Lissa become enmeshed in forbidden romance, the Academy’s ruthless social scene, and unspeakable nighttime rituals. But they must be careful lest the Strigoi—the world’s fiercest and most dangerous vampires—make Lissa one of them forever

So after Twilight I was actually really over the whole vampire fad, but damn! This book was awesome!  I liked how Richelle took a completely different spin on the book.  I was like freaking out over Dimitri!  Oh my gods!  I loved him.  He's up there next to Will Herondale, and trust me not many people come even close to him.  When I finished this I looked at my mom and said we need to go to Barnes and Noble like right now.  I need to know what happens next!
Don't you hate it when you like a book and you can't go get the next one?  It is the worst feeling in the world.
Okay so let me move on to Rose.  She is this sassy, sarcastic teenager, and I want to be friends with her.  I want hang out with her and swoon over Dimitri with her.  I read books, and I look at these girl in the books and I am so jealous because they get like the perfect guys and I'm like, "Why can't that be me?"  And Darian don't say it's because I'm home schooled.
Like I said after Twilight I wasn't a really big fan of vamps because they had become so big and it was like every time you turned around there was another book about vampires.  This book took them to the next level thought.  Yes they still drink blood, but they were mortal unless they were Strigoi. So I liked that they weren't dead and they were mortal.  It was a nice twist.  If you get the chance read this book.
Read it.
I don't care if you have to stop whatever you are reading before.  You need to read this book.  Even if your not a big vampire fan.  It is totally different from all those others.  Read. It.
